THE DOG DAYS OF AUTUMN

Image
It is nearly November and the das are getting shorter and the nights are even darker, so it seems. Mia is cooking puppies and  we all watch over her. Everyone snuggles down by the fire in their comfy spots. The leaves rustle around our house before floating to the ground. All is right with the world. It is a time of changing colours and changing light. It is a day of napping til the sun. rises in the sky Then napping some more.   It is a time of begging for a bit of apple. And a time for finding whatever rays of sun that you can. These are the dog days  of Autumn and I cherish every season under the sun. May your days be filled with peace my friends...

MAPLE MAGIC

Image
It happens every year. The tree in the front of  our house bursts into a brilliant red before letting go of her leaves. I have watched for nearly fifteen years now. This happens while we nap.   It happens while we watch for squirrels in the back garden. We can hear the leaves as they tumble and fall into the grass. It is a subtle sound that you can miss if you do not listen hard. And inside,as we play, they fall around our house in a magic  carpet of brilliant red. Our magic maple tree. May your days be filled with peace my friends...

OUT FROM THE DARKNESS

Image
It's early morning like these that we wake in darkness. It is a quiet time of waiting for the sunrise and the light to return. When the light does return, we gather out in the back garden, finding tender grasses while the leaves fall around us. The sun is lower in the skies so we  gather on the patio. Mia's belly keeps growing and growing. Mother takes breaks with us and we get our fusses together. The Hawks circle above our heads. They hear our chickens but they cannot reach them. Izzy asks if Mother could help them guard the chickens.  Mia does not care about the hawks or the light or the dark. She is cooking puppies. It is a full time job to guard our garden and our chickens. And of course, there is  the kong... May your days be filled with peace my friends...

ALL THE COLOURS OF THE WORLD

Image
Finally! The fog went away and the rain went away and the skies were brilliant blue . The eaves are showing their true colours on the trees before they let go and dance in the wind. We are all just happy to be outside in the sunshine and cool air. Mia is slowing down a bit these days as her tummy grows bigger. I can still find the tender grasses beneath the fallen leaves   All the colours of the world seem to be in our back garden. These are happy, quiet days. Beneath a rainbow of leaves. May your days be filled with peace my friends...
