EARLY IN THE SUMMER SUN

Image
When it is scorching hot in the wee hours of the morning, it makes me wonder how hot it will be in the afternoon sun.  We have all learned to take it easy in the hot  hot heat of the summer but it was never this hot for this long so early in the summer sun. It is best to lay still in the shade and listen to the wind and birds and all the sounds of summer. Of course, what really makes us happy is being in the cool house, taking it easy and napping. Or watching by the kitchen door. In any case, we hope you are keeping cool early in the summer sun. May your days be filled with peace my friends....

JUST LIKE SOUP

Image
It is nice and cool in our house these days even when the  sun and air is so hot outside.   It is just like soup. The air is heavy and thick and makes us pant with our mouths wide open. It is best to hide in the shade. Mother said we should not go into the pool until Raven's tail feels better But not everyone seems to suffer in this soup- the flowers in the front of our house seem to love this weather. Not so much for the rest of us... May your days be filled with peace my friends....

POOR BABY RAVEN

Image
The morning started out lovely.  We had treats and chewing bones and life is so good. We all even went into the pool together when Father returned from work. The water was so nice and Raven kept diving and showing us all she learned from the big pool yesterday. It was so good to be together and enjoy the pool together again. Raven would not get out of the pool. Round and round she swam  until Father said it was dinner time. But Her Tail was limp and Izzy knew exactly what happened. Raven used her tail so much in the past two days that she got limp tail. Poor baby Raven did not know what to do. Mother soothed her and gave her a little doggy medicine and told Raven to be gentle and calm and the pain  in her tail would go away. She just has to take it easy. So  we all headed this advice and took it easy,  waiting for the heatwave to begin. May your days be filled with peace my friends....

THE BIG SPLASH

Image
We could feel the heat of the morning creeping up slowly . It was good to be inside and even better to be together. Mother and Father left with Raven who was wearing a collar like the ones Moula and I had so many years ago. It was a  flat collar. Raven came back still wet in her shedding fur and very tired. She said they traveled far into the mountains and learned to use a ramp and catch her bumper in this very big pool.  Raven said it was very fun and only rained a little bit.   We were all very tired from the heat of the day and thought it wise to lay low together. Mia and Izzy are inseparable these days, it keeps Mia out of trouble and Izzy does not seem to mind. Poor little Raven is so exhausted  that all she wants to do is sleep. May your days be filled with peace my friends...

COME WHAT MAY

Image
The sunshine was fleeting this morning. I  think storms are brewing somewhere. Mia seems subdued this week.,as if she is contemplating the meaning of life.   We take each moment for what it is and don't  worry about what may come. Sometimes what comes is a generous lick of pumpkin and peanut butter on a spoon. Or a quick nap on the cool, dark hallway floor. We may be ready for anything in an instant but we take our time to nap. Raven will have her first official diving lesson today. Fingers crossed that she enjoys flying through the air. Every day is a "come what may" day for us  and we love to live life this way. May your days be filled with peace my friends...

JUST PLAY

Image
Mia is exhausted from her adventures over the past few days, She is still taking care of sister Izzy who is almost over her stomach bug and me? I am  feeling so good that I want to just play with my stuffed toys again.   The day was gorgeous sunshine and breezes and my legs are working fine and I have Ari's bunny to play with, I know I have not said this but I am really glad that Mother had my teeth fixed and cleaned and that nasty bump taken off my lip. We  are all pretty happy for this nice weather and for Mother being home with us and for each other to play and care. May your days be filled with peace my friends....

THE YOUNG ONES

Image
Raven does not know what to make of the strange dog on the kitchen counter. It reminds me of what it was like to be young and uncertain of things. Ari was so crazy when she came to live with Moula and me ! We   taught her how to be part of the pack, our family. But she had questions for everything. Sometimes it is exhausting to answer all the young one's questions. But mostly ,  they need to figure it out for themselves. There are young ones just now emerging in our gardens too, but they seem to know exactly where they belong in the world. Mia is beginning  know where she fits in in this world, I think she knows she will be a mother soon enough. Even the fruits and veggies  know where they need to be and do. Some day too, Raven will stop questioning everything and enjoy life for what it is. The young ones keep me young at heart  and even though I still have questions too, life for me is a lot sweeter now. May your days be filed with peace my friends...
