SEEKING SHADE


 It was hot outside. Even in the morning breeze- it was hot. Mother watered her thirsty plants because it was so hot outside.Raven tried to help Mother as best she could.
 
 Auntie Denise and Uncle Bob came by again- to finish up the food from yesterday's feast.

 All the while- we found shade to keep us cool in the heat of the day.


 Raven did not seem to mind much.

 But the rest of us moved from one shady spot to another and another.


 Until there was no more shade and we all gathered at the door and yelled "Let us in! Let us in!"
 And we were cool again.

The rains are unending these days and the towels on the floor catching leaks from the skylights and catching muddy wet puppy paws are unending too. Father gives us treats and dries us off but there is not much else to do in these dreary days. I try to keep Dusty calm and happy but we are all wet and sad for the weather. MARGOT'S BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

It seemed like any other chilly morning with the sun shining bright but then in came little Margot and her mother -Auntie Julie. It was Margot's first birthday and she wanted to spend it with us. But first she had to run all around the back garden to explore because it was quite some time since her last visit. She had her birthday bandana around her neck and a smile from ear to ear as she greeted each one of us. We  chatted with Auntie too. Inside, in the warmth of the kitchen, we gathered around to see Margot get her gift. We all wanted to see the card as well because it was Mum who wrote in it.
